HEALTHFOX IMPROVES THE QUALITY OF REHABILITATION HealthFOX has been developed in cooperation with Turku University Hospital to offer analyzation, training and on-line service concept which engages, improves and motivates patients to self-care by using existing information technologies.
Since March 2013 HealthFOX has been developed to offer comprehensive service concept for rehabilitation which particularly targets patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
Common trait linked with musculoskeletal rehabilitation is that patients tend to forget or postpone their self-care exercises which can lead to recurring illnesses and accumulation of sick leaves.
To increase the overall quality of rehabilitation, HealthFOX combines modern clinical practises and self-care programmes into a digital service concept, which includes physical and mental rehabilitation linked with professional diet and lifestyle recommendations.

New COPD pilot to increase patient compliance
International pharmaceutical company GSK organised a ‘Health Challenge 2015’ competition where HealthFOX and Finnish Lung Health Association (FILHA) kick-started a new pilot which focuses on improving patient compliance to treatment. The Organisation for Respiratory Health in Finland has also joined the pilot.
HealthFOX and FILHA are developing a new healthcare service concept for COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) treatment which provides overall information about the disease, professional diet and exercise recommendations supported with programmes for self-care.
The pilot aims to introduce a new approach to increase patient compliance to treatment and to raise awareness regarding Finnish expertise in COPD and other respiratory disease treatment.
Developing new solutions for directly observed treatment
HealthFOX and Finnish Lung Health Association (FILHA) are developing a new pilot to increase the effect of directly observed treatment for tuberculosis. Pilot launches in the fall of 2016.
The pilot, which has international potential, specializes in tuberculosis patients and is going to be launched in close cooperation with the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) and Oulu University Hospital in the fall of 2016.
The cooperation aims to increase tuberculosis treatment adherence as the cost per patient for restarting the medical treatment are considerable (from €10,000 to €100,000). Hence, the pilot puts a particular focus on the development of the directly observed treatment and active communication between the patient and healthcare professionals.
Internationally, the pilot is current, as tuberculosis is still a common disease in large parts of the world. In particular, in the developing countries as nearly 9 million people are diagnosed yearly.
We are in active cooperation with the following international partners.
